ViewThese pictures show the basic contruction of the case of a 'Dynator' type alternator, all parts being machined from solid. Such precision making together with the cost of the rotor and regulator units explain why 'Dynators' are a more expensive unit than the original dynamos that they replace.
The Dynator under construction in the pictures is a one off Lucas C45 copy as fitted to a Singer Le Mans. It should be noted that most dynamos, whatever the shape, can be replicated as a 'Dynator' type device.
